CATALONIA ACTIVITIES AT THE PQ’15

In addition to the National and Schools stands as spaces to show what is scenographically done in our country, the Institut del Teatre programmed 7 activities at the Prague Quadrennial 2015: a talk, a round table and 5 live performances.

The aim was to accompany the content of the exhibition with spaces for reflection and dialogue, and spaces for live arts.

We invited the scenographers Alfons Flores, Franc Aleu and Lluc Castells to share the discussion moderated by Montse Amenós. The title we gave the activity is Worlds without words and we precisely wanted to talk about this with the guest artists; scenography as a language, as drama, as a very powerful means of expression.

We invited Toni Raman and Ivan Alcázar from the UPC to give the talk Theatre in the city’s hidden folds. The work of this research team of the UPC studies how the urban fabric of the city relates to the location of the spaces dedicated to stage arts.

The space of the national stand received the live performance by Claudia Schneider titled Siren Song.

The space of the Schools stand hosted the PLATaFORMA by Adrià Pinar and Jan Mech.

Three street shows complete the programme of activities we brought to the PQ’15.

Folds of silk and Big Bang Pop were works by two groups of scenography students from the Institut del Teatre. The first was made with the scenographer and costume designer Montse Amenós, and the second by the scenographer and puppeteer Alfred Casas.

In the section of theatre spaces, we invited the companies Sociedad Doctor Alonso and Moare Danza to present, The nature and its tremor a site-specific intervention intended to show another reality of the surroundings of the city.
